About Vicki Baun Barry
Thank you for taking the time to visit my collections. In 2013, I discovered alcohol inks and was immediately captivated by their vibrant, transparent colors. The intensity and movement of the inks when applied to Yupo synthetic paper, both intrigues and challenges me. Upon my discovery of alcohol ink, my creative mind was captured by the impulse to seriously paint with them and to begin showing my work. This is an endlessly inspiring and beautiful medium. My work has been described as happy, bright, vibrant and cheerful! Because of their brilliance, alcohol inks lend themselves well to floral paintings. I find flowers and foliage beautiful in their variety and color. I enjoy the shapes and contrast of shadow when painting these subjects. In 2014, I was featured as a guest artist in the book “Pigments of Your Imagination – An Introduction to Alcohol Ink” by Cathy Taylor. The book became a number one bestseller in its' class on Amazon.com. In 2016, a revised and expanded second edition was published and ten of my paintings were included in the Artist Gallery of this edition. Abstract painting feeds my hunger for creative expression. I find abstraction a remedy for artist block by allowing the inks to take me on fascinating, color-filled, and unpredictable journeys. I also paint with pastels and watercolor and occasionally, I enjoy doing collages. I am a member of the Redwood Art Association, The Representational Art League, The Humboldt Artist Gallery in the Morris Graves Museum of Art, and the Humboldt Arts Council. I happily reside in Eureka, California with my husband, two daughters, two dogs, and a cockatiel. If you enjoy what you see, please share my page with your friends! Here's to living an "artful" life - and again, thank you for visiting!
